Client received photos, disappeared, and hasn’t paid $1,200 - how do you handle this?

As a professional photographer, encountering clients who vanish after delivering high-quality work can be incredibly frustrating, particularly when payment is still outstanding. In this instance, a $1,200 invoice remains unpaid despite providing a full gallery on time and to the client’s satisfaction. This experience is not uncommon in the service industry. It prompts vital questions: How often do similar situations arise? What strategies can be employed to prevent them? And when they do occur, what are the best courses of action for recovery?

I’m a professional photographer and ran into a frustrating situation.

Delivered a full gallery to a client - everything done properly, high quality, on time. After delivery, the client just disappeared. No replies, no payment. There’s still about $1,200 outstanding.

I know I’m not the only one this has happened to.
