In what orientation do you store your lenses, and why?
Our take
To date, my longest (tallest) lens is my 70-200 f/2.8 lens which I store upright with camera body connection end up since it's more narrow than the lens hood end - the assumption is that the larger footprint of the lens hood end is more stable. For space efficiency and avoiding a lens rolling off a shelf, I typically store all my lenses vertically.
I've seen different photos or videos of folks with their gear in the background and wondered if there's a rationale or recommendation on how to store lenses?
I'm about to get the Nikon Z 180-600mm which is notable taller than my other lenses and was thinking about how to store it.
so, the title question, in what orientation do you store your lenses and why?
horizontal? Vertical with camera body connection up? Vertical with lens hood end up?
Does it matter?
