Our take

In a recent experience, I entered an Instagram raffle for a free pet portrait session offered by a photography studio. Upon winning, I received a text to discuss my dog and desired photo styles, followed by a call outlining the session details. The two-hour appointment includes a photo shoot and a viewing of edited images, with a $99 fee required to hold the reservation. While the session and one print are included, additional purchases are available.

I’m wondering if this is a common experience with pet photography promotions.

I entered an Instagram raffle for a free pet portrait session from a photography studio. After entering, I received a text asking about my dog and what kind of photos we’d want. About a week later, I got a call saying I was selected.

They explained the session would be around two hours total, including a short photo shoot and then time to view edited images and choose one for a larger print that’s included.

They also said there’s a $99 fee to hold the appointment and asked for a credit card to reserve the time. I decided to wait before booking. They mentioned the session and included print are covered, but that additional photos or upgrades are available if we choose to purchase more.

Has anyone else come across something like this? Curious how it typically works.
