Scottish Highlands Vacation -- What would you bring?

Our take

Embarking on a two-week adventure through the breathtaking Scottish Highlands offers a unique blend of stunning landscapes and rich culture. As you journey from Glasgow to iconic sites like Loch Ness and the Isle of Skye, capturing these moments is essential for any photographer. Balancing a minimalist approach with the need for versatility can be challenging, especially when considering the vastness of the scenery.

I'll be heading to Scotland for a ~2 week vacation. My wife and I will be taking a train tour through the Highlands, starting in Glasgow, hitting Loch Ness and the Isle of Skye before heading to Inverness and ending in Edinburgh. We'll then be spending several days in Edinburgh before heading back home.

Normally I'd try to keep my camera gear to a minimum on a trip like this, but I'm hoping there may be some landscape opportunities that would have me wishing I'd brought just a bit more gear.

I'm not going to list my gear, but I'd like to hear from some other photographers what they would bring. Would you stick to a minimalist set up or would you bring some longer lenses to cover your bases?

TIA!
