Self portraits with timer (NikonZ)

Our take

Hello, fellow photography enthusiasts! I'm reaching out to explore the art of taking self-portraits with the Nikon Z, particularly at high apertures between f/1.8 and f/4. While I successfully captured images using a timer after focusing on a light stand, I encountered challenges with clarity when using SnapBridge. The camera seemed to struggle with focus, resulting in blurry shots. I'm eager to learn if anyone has tips or techniques for achieving sharp self-portraits at higher apertures. Thank you for your insights!

Hi all! How do you take self portraits? And is anyone able to take them at high aperture? f/1.8-f/4?

I tried to use SnapBridge and focus on my phone, very weirdly the camera thought it was focusing, but the pictures were blurry (with eye tracking AF and a godox ad400).

I finally managed to take self portraits by using the timer - I focused on a light stand and then placed myself in the same area. But there’s a trick - I could only do it at f/8 or higher numbers (low aperture). I am really curious if there is any way of taking self portraits at high apertures - how to get focus?

Thank you!
