The difficulties of getting older as a photographer

Our take

Aging as a photographer brings its own unique set of challenges, often wrapped in a light-hearted perspective. From the struggles of swapping readers and lenses to the comical sight of getting off my knees—reminiscent of shooting in 240p—every moment is a reminder of the passage of time. Nostalgia hits hard when LUTs evoke memories of my childhood, and a couple of Aleve becomes essential for those longer shoots. Yet, I'm continually inspired by the incredible talent of beginner photographers.

Just a little light hearted list from a 50 y/o shooter who rolled cans of film (in a bag) as a high schooler.

  1. Swapping Readers & swapping lenses

  2. Getting up off my knees looks like I’m shooting in 240p

  3. Luts look like my childhood.

  4. Two Aleve. (Utah, get me two.)

  5. Amazed at how good some beginner photographers are.

Anyone else have light hearted answers?
