what to do if gear is lost by "friend"?
Our take
When gear is lost by a friend, navigating the situation can be challenging. In this case, you invested $399-$440 in a Freewell and V1 bundle, only to have a crucial component—a 6-9 stop filter—lost by a friend who is now offering just $100. Given the item is discontinued, your request for $200 seems reasonable to cover the loss. If you were in their position, would you consider offering half the value, or would you aim lower?
y'all act as the jury.
I bought Freewell and v1 bundle for $399 - $440 after tax.
He borrowed it and lost the 6-9 stop which is one of the key parts.
He's lowballing me and offering $100. I can't replace/buy due to it being discontinued.
I asked $200. Friend had offered to buy a v-mount battery and I declined and requested $200.
After a whole day he still thinks $100 is fair.
If you lost your friends discontinued tech/gear/anything and you he asked for half value would you pay or offer lower?
I will attach screenshots and let me know if I'm in the wrong for asking for only $200 rather than $400.
