Our Take: Where Artistic Vision Finds a New Horizon

There are collaborations that merely coexist, and then there are those that ignite a synergy, breathing new life into individual expressions. The recent partnership between photographer dogwalker21 and poet Yomi Sode stands as a testament to the latter. This captivating project, born from a shared artistic sensibility, saw striking photographic works exhibited at the prestigious Foundling Museum in London, coinciding with Sode's evocative book launch. The journey of these images has been a dynamic one, travelling to various events deeply connected to Sode’s powerful poetry, each presentation a continuation of their shared narrative.

What elevates this collaboration beyond a simple pairing of disciplines is the profound dialogue established between the visual and the literary. Yomi Sode's book, with its rich tapestry of references to Caravaggio, lends an almost painterly quality to the photographic explorations. This interweaving of artistic inspirations creates an immersive experience for the viewer, inviting a deeper contemplation of light, shadow, and narrative. The resulting large-scale, professionally framed prints are not merely art objects; they are portals to a world where words and images converse, each enhancing the other's inherent beauty and depth. It’s an aspirational fusion that speaks to the soul, reminding us of the potent impact of art when it transcends its traditional boundaries.

Now, these significant pieces are seeking a new chapter, a new space to resonate and inspire. The photographer, with a heartfelt desire for these works to continue their journey, is looking to place them in a London or UK-based shop, gallery, or communal space. This presents a unique opportunity to bring a touch of curated elegance and profound artistic expression into an everyday environment. Imagine the vibrant energy these prints could infuse into a boutique, the thoughtful contemplation they could foster in a gallery, or the creative spark they could ignite in a communal hub. This is more than just acquiring art; it's about embracing a piece of a meaningful artistic dialogue and allowing it to enrich a new setting.

From Photography

Some time ago I collaborated on a photoshoot with poet Yomi Sode. The work was later exhibited at the Foundling Museum in London, alongside an evening where Yomi presented his new book. Since then, the images have travelled to a number of events connected to his poetry.

It’s been a really meaningful collaboration, Yomi’s book draws heavily on references to Caravaggio, which adds an interesting layer to the visuals (worth exploring if you’re curious).
