New to DIY nails - help?

Title.

Hi all,

I am hoping to learn the proper steps/best practice to apply/remove builder and hard gels for nails. My spouse gets their nails done at a salon, and I'd like to start doing them at home to both save on money and time. I saw a lot of posts and videos but there's literally so many, I get a little overwhelmed. What I know so far, I think (on bare nails):

  1. Cuticle pushing.
  2. Sanding/efile.
  3. Dehydrator stuff? / Wipe
  4. Rubber base coat.
  5. Apply plastic fake nail?
  6. Cure for a few seconds with a UV light.
  7. Cut/file to size and shape and wipe off.
  8. Apply gel from cuticle to tip.
  9. Cure for 1 min.
  10. - This is where I get lost fort like, colors and stuff -
  11. Add optional jewels and things and then cure again?

I don't know if this will go beyond doing nails at home, but I'd like to be fairly good at it. Any advice or pointing to another thread is appreciated. Thanks!
