Red tones keep coming back after dyeing dark brown – help?

Hi everyone. I’ve been dyeing my hair red for a few years, and I wanted to go back to my natural color, dark brown. I dyed it using L’Oreal Majirel 5.1, used Fanola No Red, and I’m also using a Wella Color Fresh mask in Cool Espresso, but red tones still keep showing up. I’d prefer not to use the L’Oreal dye again. Do you have any suggestions?
