Graduate Studies and Scholarship Opportunities

Hi everyone, I’m looking for some advice on pursuing postgraduate studies abroad.

I’m a Filipino currently based in the Philippines. I graduated in June 2024 with a Bachelor’s degree in Communication Arts and work as a Multimedia Artist. Right now, I’m employed at the Department of Energy as a Science Research Specialist under the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Program Management and Technology Promotion Division (EPMPD).

My work mainly involves supporting information and advocacy campaigns—creating communication materials, AVPs, and multimedia content focused on energy efficiency and conservation.

I’m really interested in taking a master’s degree, but I honestly don’t know where or how to start. I’m especially confused about the application process for international schools.

My lola who lives in Hawaii suggested I check out the University of Hawaii. I looked into it and found their Center for Philippine Studies (CPS), and it seems like they offer a lot of scholarships, which really caught my attention.

Now I’m wondering—does anyone here have experience applying to UH or CPS? How do I even get started? What programs would make sense for my background, and which scholarships should I be looking into or prioritizing?

I also plan to finance my studies on my own, so I’d really appreciate any advice on scholarships, financial aid, or funding options. If anyone has tips on requirements, timelines, or even choosing the right school/program, I’d love to hear them.

Thanks in advance!
