Older Chinese woman asked her son to take a picture of herself with my mom and I in Japan

We were visiting Hirano Beach and taking some picture of Mt. Fuji when a Chinese guy approached us and asked to take a picture. We thought he meant him and his mom, but after some clarification, he said that his mom wanted a picture of herself with me and my mom (white Canadian).

I've heard of some Chinese people doing this to foreign tourists in China, but didn't know it could happen as well when they are tourists themselves in another country! I can understand in China if they don't leave the country much and don't see that many foreign tourists, but surely in Japan they've been seeing a lot.

Maybe I should've asked in the moment why they wanted a picture (but given the language barrier I didn't). So now I'm wondering if this older chinese lady is about to laugh about us with her friends when she gets back home or if she just wanted a picture with some white women for some reason lol.

To clarify, I found this interaction funny above all else, especially since the lady didn't even seem to acknowledge us that much.
