Day trip from Montreal but only if I can see the Parliament building

Hello everyone. I am going to Montreal in the Summer and would like to take a day trip to Ottawa. However, the highlight of the visit will be seeing the Parliament building and since I heard it is under renovation, I am not sure how visible it is at this time. How is it right now? Is it almost completely covered by scaffolding? Round trip train tickets from Montreal are over US$120 so I would rather visit only when I can see the building. Thanks
