How to hike with large (heavy) lens

Planning for a trip and I bought a Tamron 150-600. I like it, but now I realize I need a solution for carrying it while hiking.

I used to carry with a Peak Design clip on my backpack strap but the new lens seems too big for that.

I'm thinking I may be able to find a way to use a PD slide if I can attach it to the lens.

So I'm asking for suggestions on what I can do to carry this 2kg lens. Backpack is Tenba Axis where I'll be carrying other lens (lenses?)
