The Light That Found Pete Crow-Armstrong at Wrigley

A narrow beam of late-season sunlight found Pete Crow-Armstrong on the top step of Wrigley Field's dugout, a spot he usually leaves to veterans. Team photographer Matt Dirksen had seconds to capture it. There is something sacred in that kind of patience, the way light waits for the right moment. It reminds us of Jamel Shabazz's philosophy: that the best photographs are not taken but channeled. Some moments simply choose their witness.
