Storage and Sharing of Photos

Our take

As a landscape and wildlife photographer, sharing your work can be a unique challenge, especially when your focus is primarily on personal projects. With upcoming graduation shoots, you may need an efficient way to share selected images with friends without overwhelming them. While your Dropbox subscription offers ample storage, it may not be the most seamless option for individual downloads. Exploring user-friendly alternatives that balance accessibility with your artistic intent could enhance your sharing experience, allowing you to manage photos effectively without incurring unnecessary costs.

I mostly shoot landscape and wildlife photography, and I don’t usually share it with other people except maybe on my personal instagram or website, but never in a way where I intend it to be downloaded. However, I’ve offered to shoot graduation pictures for a few different people/groups of people in the coming days and weeks, and I was curious what everyone uses to share photos with people. I have a Dropbox subscription with 3tb of storage (more than enough) but it doesn’t seem like it’s a super efficient way to let people download individual and selected images after a photoshoot. There’s obviously paid gallery options (I’ve looked at Pixieset and SmugMug), but I don’t really want to pay for something like that since 75%+ of my photos are landscape or wildlife that aren’t meant to be shared in that way. I know it probably makes the most sense to just stick with Dropbox since I only have a handful of grad shoots for right now, but I am wondering if anyone has suggestions for other ways I could store and manage sharing my photos in the future, knowing that it’s only a small part of the photography I do. One other thing is that I don’t plan to actually sell any of my photos (photoshoots are for friends and I’m doing it for free), so I don’t need the ability to do that.
