The Wild Within: Urban Beavers Earn Rewilding Europe's Top Honor

A black-and-white photograph of urban beavers reclaiming a city riverbank just won Rewilding Europe's top honor. Jan Wieczorek's striking image captures something quietly profound: nature doesn't need our permission to return. It simply does. That authenticity, that unposed wildness, feels like the truest kind of art. For more stories of species slipping back into view, don't miss our coverage of the elusive Ghana Cuckooshrike, filmed for the first time after 13 years of silence.
