NASA's Rocket Plume Glows as a Celestial Jellyfish Over Florida
A ghostly jellyfish of rocket plume light has bloomed over Cape Canaveral, and NASA's new photos are nothing short of celestial art. The image captures that rare moment where raw engineering becomes pure atmosphere, a luminous, drifting form against the Florida night. It reminds us that even the most technical launches can yield moments of unexpected beauty. For another take on light and illusion, our review of Pergear's 50mm f1.4 lens explores a different kind of visual magic.
A Cold Glimpse of Our Sun's Distant, Silent End
January is often the month that feels like it will never end, so astrophotographer Andrew McCarthy has leaned into the sentiment. For his 2027 cosmic calendars, he opens with a haunting image of our Sun's distant, silent end, a cold, quiet glimpse of what waits billions of years from now. It is unnerving, yes, but also strangely beautiful. If you are drawn to how light dances across the sky, do not miss "A Year of Planning Yields an Immersive Solar Eclipse Moment in Spain."
A Cosmic Vista: Astronaut's Milky Way Photo Defies Belief.
There is a particular magic in an image that makes you pause and question what you are seeing. Astronaut Don Pettit has mastered that art, and his latest capture of the Milky Way, shot from the International Space Station as Earth rushes by below, is nothing short of breathtaking. It feels less like a photograph and more like a curated glimpse into the cosmos. The clarity is so striking that it defies belief, yet it is entirely authentic.
